Working on my Arctic Cat 580 Sled

I hope I am in the right place, so I just picked up an old Arctic Cat EXT/EFi 580 and I'm looking to check out the carbs. I am trying to remove the air box filter without breaking anything. Do I need to take off the gas tank, or can I start with the boots between the carbs and filter?

Take off the boots first, and you might need to remove them before getting to the airbox. If it's EFI, there are no carbs.

You're in the right place! You can start by loosening the boots between the carbs and the filter, usually you don't need to remove the gas tank just yet.

Yeah, it's EFI, so no carbs, I'll start by removing the boots and see if that gives me enough access to the airbox without pulling the gas tank

It seems like you're headed in the right direction. EFI means there are no carbs to worry about, so you can skip hunting those down. Loosening the boots should create enough space to maneuver around the airbox. Keep us posted on how everything turns out once you dive in

yeah, you're usually okay leaving the gas tank in. The trick is to loosen the clamps on the boots connecting the carbs to the airbox. Sometimes, twisting them gently to break the seal helps.
On some of those older Cats, it's more about finagling it out of there because the space is super tight. There might be a bolt or two on the bottom of the airbox as well, so feel around for those.

Once the airbox is out, you'll have much better access to those carbs for cleaning or adjustment. What are you seeing that makes you want to dive into the carbs, by the way?
