restoring a 1995 mach z 780

I'm restoring a 1995 mach z 780 with a 583 engine. I got a long list but I thought I should start with items that are more manageable, fingers crossed!

I have so many questions, please bare with me!
- What's the first step in diagnosing why the temp gauge isn't working?
- Anyone knows where I can check a diagram so I can locate fuses and wirings for the headlights and taillights?
- Heated thumb and hand warmers are not functioning. Could this be related to the gauge and lights? Where else should I check?

Yo, nice project man! For that temp gauge, start by checking the sensor and wiring... sometimes it's just a loose connection. For fuse and wiring diagrams, hit up the factory manual or Google it. Usually someone's posted it already. About the heated thumb and hand warmers, not really sure how to deal with that but pretty sure someone's gonna answer

I'm a sucker for a good restoration project and yours sounds pretty good. Right of the bat I can't help you with the diagrams, I'm terrible at finding these kinds of things, but I can help you with question 1 and 3.

- A non working temp gauge means it's the gauge or the sensor, so check both. While you're at it, check the wiring just in case, it's an older machine, so anything can happen
- For the warmers it's either the warmers or the switches. Again, check both and check the working while you're at it.

For the gauge and on the 583, it's usually a single wire sender on the head, so unplug it and ground the wire with the ignition on, if the gauge jumps, the gauge and wiring are likely fine, and the sensor is the problematic one and yes, the gauge, lights, and hand warmers might all trace back to a shared ground or a bad voltage regulator.

yep, check the wiring to the sender unit on the engine, you know, corroded terminals there are notorious. A bad sender is also common. Sometimes, if you ground the wire coming from the gauge, the gauge should peg, confirming the gauge and wiring are good
