2012 Ski Doo MXZ XRS 600 gearing issue

my dad's got a 2012 Ski Doo MXZ XRS 600 and has some issues with the gearing!

He's used to his old sled's quick pickup with 21/45 gearing, but this new one feels sluggish off the line with its stock 27/45.
He's looking to go 23/45, but his dealer's saying it'll mean a ton of clutch work to get it right.

Is there anyone here who runs this gearing on a 137 track with a 1.25 ripper, and what do you guys do to make it run smoothly for trail riding and ditch banging?
Also, how much does that gearing change really affect throttle snap vs. top speed?

Any advice on getting it dialed in would be awesome!

23/45 will definitely wake it up off the line, but yeah, you'll probably need clutch weights and maybe a spring swap to balance it out. If your dad mostly trails and ditches, he'll feel the snap more than he'll miss the top speed.

Dealers love scaring riders with "clutch work" talk, but truth is, gearing changes matter way more for how you ride than some shop's labor bill, throttle snap beats bragging about top speed anyway.
